Satisfied faces in the expert lounge at the IFA: The association had invited important international industrial partners and representatives of the press and was able to report on favourable developments in Germany and the international market.

Volker Mueller, CEO at expert AG, opened the "expert@IFA 2014" event with positive figures. From the months of April to July of the current fiscal year, expert AG exhibited revenue growth of 15.5%. Business development in Germany is proceeding to the fullest satisfaction, both in terms of growing markets and unchanged areas. Internationally, all signs point to expansion: expert International CEO Dieter Mathys reported revenue growth of 10% in the first half of 2014. It was particularly pleasing to note that all 17 European member states contributed to this positive development. In addition, Dieter Mathys was able to report a new development at the IFA: From 1st January 2015, the South African Iser expert Group will be a new member of expert International.

Another main topic at the event was e-Commerce. Dieter Mathys provided information about country-specific differences and the opportunity to exchange experience. 12 of the 17 member states already engage in business online. Though there is no multichannel strategy for all countries, the plan is clear: "We are proceeding with the topic of e-Commerce carefully, step-by-step, and most importantly in a profit-oriented way. Though we may not be the fastest, we would like to be the best in the long run," according to Dieter Mathys.

In Germany, e-Commerce is about to take an important step. Volker Mueller announced an expansion of the online presence by mid-October 2014: In the future, customers will be able to view the entire product range of their regional expert distributor online. It will be possible to access information about prices and availability as well as to reserve products directly. "This step will connect our stationary business to our online activities more strongly, in turn resulting in better service for our customers," says Volker Mueller. At the start 12,000 articles will be featured online, to be expanded to up to 200,000 in the future.
